Commissioned artwork – London’s Skyline from Westminster to Canary Wharf

I was thrilled to be commissioned to create this piece, capturing the iconic London skyline from Westminster, past The Shard, The City, and out towards Canary Wharf. There’s something truly special about working on a piece that celebrates London, a city that’s constantly changing yet so rich with history. This commission allowed me to bring my vision of London’s energy and diversity to life, and I couldn’t wait to dive in.

In this piece, I wanted to capture the essence of the city using bold, geometric blocks of colour. By abstracting the landscape, I aimed to give a sense of London’s vibrancy and complexity, from the flowing Thames to the unique architecture that defines each district. The soft, pastel tones bring a calmness to the composition, while the structure of the shapes and lines adds a sense of movement and rhythm. It was important to me that the painting not only represented these iconic landmarks but also reflected the character and colour of London’s …

Creating “Ball Boy”

"Ball Boy" started as a simple idea while watching Stickman and the Gruffalo on TV one Christmas. I thought I'll give that a go, and came up with a character called Ball Boy. The simple idea of how a ball can come in all shapes and sizes inspired me to write the poem "Ball Boy" —a friendly character who brings joy wherever he goes.

Writing the Poem

I wanted to capture the energy and fun of Ball Boy in a way kids could relate to. So, I crafted a short poem about all the things that make Ball Boy special: he's there for every game, loved by kids and even by dogs in the park. I kept the verses light and fun, perfect for reading aloud.

Illustrating Ball Boy

Once the poem was perfected, I started working on illustrations. I wanted them to feel just as lively as the poem, showing Ball Boy in action, rolling through grass, bringing smiles to kids, and sharing moments with pets. It was a hands-on process, but seeing the illustrations come tog…

Artist in house at the Coq D’Argent

I was recently hired for an exciting live painting experience: capturing the stunning London cityscape from the rooftop garden of Coq d’Argent during their exclusive Secret Saturday Brunch Party. The scene was nothing short of breath-taking—a panoramic view of London’s iconic skyline, set against the vibrant energy of a private brunch. Painting live, surrounded by the hum of music and lively conversation, brought a unique thrill and energy to the canvas. It was a rare opportunity to translate the city’s dynamic atmosphere and shifting light in real time, creating an artwork as vivid and lively as the scene itself. A truly unforgettable day spent blending art, atmosphere, and London’s unparalleled skyline.

Oxford Mail Article

In a 2014 Oxford Mail feature "artist Patrick Cannon reflected on how his childhood in Milton, near Didcot, inspired his painting A Forest Opening. Exhibited at the Oxford Art Fair at The Fishes pub in North Hinksey, this oil painting portrays the woods surrounding Milton Manor—a place that held a special allure in his youth. "We used to visit what I used to call the 'secret forest' in Milton," Patrick recalls, "which actually was just a thin strip of woods on the boundary of Milton Manor. It seemed a lot larger when I was little." This sense of childhood wonder and perspective comes through vividly in his work. Describing his creative drive, Patrick shares, “The Oxfordshire countryside is beautiful, and I want to bring out the vibrancy of it in my work.” The exhibition proved successful, with three of his pieces selling for £220, £300, and £450, demonstrating a shared appreciation for the landscapes that inspire him."

Painter Patrick Cannon feels a familial bond to Didcot power station

in the Oxford Mail 2013 - Painter Patrick Cannon feels a deep familial bond with Didcot Power Station—long before its construction, his grandfather and great-grandfather farmed the very fields on which it stands. Their company, Cannons of Milton, played a key role in the station’s construction, transporting essential materials for the cooling towers and later hauling away waste ash, which was used to build county roads. Reflecting on this history, Patrick has preserved the towers’ iconic presence on canvas, capturing them in glowing hues at dawn and dusk. His series of seven paintings has already attracted considerable interest, with three pieces selling for £500, £400, and £250.

Recalling his childhood, Patrick, now based in Wapping, East London, said, “I was born and raised in Milton and I could see the towers from my garden. I was always fascinated by them—the sheer size, the steam they produced. I’ve seen it in many different seasons, weathers, and lights, and…
